Im using this for weather mostly and the old storm team 4 app was so much better. This app makes you go all over the place to get your forecast and there are a ton of huge ads you have to navigate past like a trashy website. Plus, the accuracy of the forecast is quite poor. Shopping for a better app.

Overall News NBC 4 is my go to for news updates however, its irritating that for every new story that has video you are subjected to watch the ridiculous ads over and over and over again!!! It makes me not want to use the app anymore! The other problem is that once the news video is playing and I get a notification (i.e. text, email or pop up notification) it closes out the video and I have to watch the ridiculous ad again! Hopefully something can be done about the ads or give us a chance to skip them if we are truly uninterested in them.

What the heck happened? This used to be my go-to app for news in Northern VA. I will be deleting it. If a news story has a video with it, the ad automatically starts playing even if you just want to READ the article, instead of watching it. There is no option to exit out of the ad. I have a hard time exiting from the news story video after the ad plays. Sorry Nbc4.. This was the final straw in bad choices for your app.

Ads auto play in news stories that have a video; shutting off my ringer does not silence the ad. This was my go-to app for news but I cannot have ads playing out loud every time I want to read an article.

This has long been my go to app for local and national news. With the recent change to auto play videos/ads I will be looking elsewhere. Add functionality to disable auto play or you will lose a TON of traffic on this app NBC!

I just downloaded and tried to open this app. Nothing happened- for a while. I got out and gig back - still nothing. I deleted it. Crappy app.

This app was my go to for news, but the last release forces ads and stories to play with sound regardless of having sound turned off. You also cant quickly stop them, which is just obnoxious. Since I cant check news in quiet places, Ill be finding an alternative. Its too bad because a number of the other features such as customizable alerts and a great weather interface are top notch!

The previous channel 4 weather app was my favorite for daily checking of the weather forecast but this new version is an absolute joke. It is clunky, cumbersome, slow, and populated with annoying adds. Do yourself a favor and skip it. I tried it for a couple weeks and just deleted it in frustration. I wish I could go back to the previous version.

This is my second review. I last gave this app three stars. I enjoy the content and alerts but I do not enjoy the poor editing or badly written headlines. However, this was my go-to app as I like a good mix of local news with world news and the local alerts are useful. I detest the new auto-play video feature on the latest update. I want to read the news. And, I often want to do it in a quiet environment. I end up missing out on half the articles because I no longer open ones that contain video. Even lengthy articles have videos attached now. I do not mind an ad before a video but I detest autoplay. I have scoured for a setting to turn off autoplay and none exists. I have no doubt this was a calculated design maneuver that is causing this app to lose users. I already know several users who were turned off for good with the constant pope updates. Its great to send a daily alert or two on a topic. Every time he gets into a car is NOT breaking news. Lastly, with the latest update, the Entertainment section on the home screen no longer updates. Mine is stuck on the same stories for the last two weeks. The stories are updated in the Entertainment section, but not on the home screen. This is annoying and Im sure draws less readership for unprompted stories. I will keep the app until the next update in case the developers actually listen to the readers. But, I will be missing out in a lot of news. Im not planning on opening video-enabled stories any longer.

Videos now Autoplay, no settings option to change that. Sometimes inappropriate to have video running or I just want to read this story. Please fix this quick!

I can no longer open this app late at night when my husband is sleeping or out in public without a loud ad playing when I try to read an article. Its really made me hate this app. The auto play really needs to be removed

I now hate this app. Used to be my favorite but now when I click on an article to just read, I cant turn off the ad. Awful changes.

NBC4 must need money to keep the high paid anchors around. No way to stop autoplaying video adds or autoplaying news clips. Makes it just as bad as watching them on TV.

A stupid rip-off of those sad Humane Society ads done by a local auto body repair shop opens automatically and loudly while trying to read a text story. It cant be skipped or shut off. These is a recent change to what used to be my go-to news app. Stop it !

I no longer use this app when Im on the train, in public waiting to meet a friend, at work, laying in bed and dont want to wake my boyfriend - because every time I flip to a new article the video starts playing automatic and there is no way to pause or stop it. Beyond frustrating!

I anxiously waited for a new update hoping the developers read the reviews and stopped the auto play videos but they havent. It was bad enough you couldnt watch a video without watching an ad but now you cant even read the story without being forced to watch the ad, even if your phone is on silent. I catch the news in the mornings on my phone because its quiet!!! With the auto play I miss half the stories because I cant open the ones with videos, I have to google the headlines and read the story from other news sites, big waste of time!! I hate to delete because I used to love this app but its pretty useless to me now

I used to use this app at least once a day. Now I almost never use it, and am close to deleting it all together. The reason? All stories with videos auto play upon opening them (and start off with that awful ad). If removing this auto play feature is not an option, please consider adding a pause button to the ad for those who may only be interested in reading the article. Until then, this app will remain one of my least used ones, and will definitely be on the chopping block should I need to delete something to free up some space. This used to be one of the better apps for local news, but now it is borderline unusable.

I didnt like the app because the Adds they keep on any thing you need read or watch I have to delete it. Couldnt stand this.

That woman is irritating me! Please stop it for the love of God!
